Complex Systems Symposium: Engineering Cooperative Networks

Complex systems are systems involving large numbers of interacting cyber/mechanical/human entities or 'agents.' This symposium will describe the role of engineering sciences in complex systems with societal impact and explore the key challenges that arise from engineering networks of collaborative agents.

The symposium is free and open to the public.

Three main themes will be addressed:

NETWORKED SYSTEMS

Keynote speaker: Duncan Watts, Yahoo! Inc.,'Using the Web to Study Social Networks'

Focus: social networks, cooperative multi-agent groups, sensor networks     for monitoring an environment, distributed robotic networks, and cyber-enabled intelligent transportation systems.

SECURITY

Keynote speaker: George Conrades, Executive Chairman, Akamai Technologies, 'Commercializing Complex Systems in the Marketplace'

Focus: all aspects of computer, network and information security and public policy issues related to security and privacy.

eCOMMERCE

Keynote speaker: John Donahoe, CEO, eBay Inc., 'The eBay Story'

Focus: the role of information technology & science(ITS)in business from design to management,operations, and scheduling issues.
